Tune Meri Jaana Kabhi Nahin Jaana - Lonely (Emptiness) - IIT Guwahati - Rohan Rathore

Update: Rohan Rathore and his tragic story is a hoax for sure. This is confirmed.
I've talked to my friends at IIT Guwahati and there is no record of such a person ever existing on campus. Nobody at IIT-G knew him and if a person dies in tragic circumstances, nearly everyone in the IIT knows it. The story about Rohan Rathore was created in order to gain views for a video on Youtube. So let us all put the "fake" Rohan Rathore to rest permanently as a person who never existed. Therefore, we can be very sure that the original singer of the song is Gajendra Verma. I'm leaving the original post below for archival purposes.

------ Original Post follows ----

I was introduced to this song by Sanat nearly a month ago and today, after listening to it again on Youtube,  I really felt that I needed to transcribe its lyrics. It's such a soulful song that you can't help feeling sentimental after hearing it - especially since the IITian (Rohan Rathod) who wrote and sang it died of cancer 15 days after finishing this beautiful piece of music. Everywhere I've looked on the net, the lyrics have been littered with mistakes. This is my cleaned up version and hopefully it makes much more sense than the others.

(English Section)
Oh love of mine, with a song and a whine,
You're harsh and divine like truths and a lie.
But the tale ends not here; I have nothing to fear
for my love is a yell of forgiving and hold on.

In the bright emptiness, in a room full of it,
is a cruel mistress - my heart!
I feel this unrest, that nests all hollowness,
for I have nowhere to go and I'm cold.

And I feel so lonely yeah...
There's a better place than this: emptiness.
And I'm so lonely yeah...
There's a better place than this: emptiness yeah...

<alaap>

(Hindi Section)

Tune mere jaana, kabhi nahin jaana,
Ishq mera, dard mera
Tune mere jaana, kabhi nahin jaana,
Ishq mera, dard mera

Aashiq tera...
Bheed mein khoya rehta hai...
Jaane jahaan....
Poocho toh itna kehta hai -

That I feel so lonely yeah...
There's a better place than this: emptiness.
And I'm so lonely yeah...
There's a better place than this: emptiness yeah...

<piano closing instrumentals with alaap >

Also, for those who don't speak or understand hindi - here's a line by line translation of the hindi section:

Tune mere jaana, kabhi nahin jaana, (You, my love, have never ever realized)
Ishq mera, dard mera (my love, my pain)
Tune mere jaana, kabhi nahin jaana, (You, my love, have never ever realized)
Ishq mera, dard mera (my love, my pain)

Aashiq tera... (Your lover)
Bheed mein khoya rehta hai... (remains lost in the crowd)
Jaane jahaan....  (My dear love, wherever ...)
Poocho toh itna kehta hai - (... asked, he just says ...)

That I feel so lonely yeah...
There's a better place than this: emptiness.
And I'm so lonely yeah...
There's a better place than this: emptiness yeah...

Hope all of you enjoy this as much as I do.

  3. this song cannot leave anyone untouched with its subtle melancholy...and also with its beautiful melange of two different styles of singing in one piece.

    may Rohan R.I.P...

( I am now experiencing a deja vu of the sentiment that was aroused in me after watching "Kal Ho Na Ho")

well there are some mistakes in the lyrics...
1."Tune mere jaana" instead of "Tune meri jaana".
2."Jaane jaahan...." instead of "Jaane jaana...."

  9. Just to let you know - this video is not the original one posted on Youtube. I've tried searching for it, but it seems that it was taken down. Sanat and I have the original version with some text by the guy in it. Also, the video linked above in the blog was posted sometime in late October. If the rumours are true about him dying, his death would have taken place late in October or early November.

(If you have more info than me, feel free to post it in the comments). Keep enjoying the song! It's a beautiful composition...

Guyz, I finally digged out the story behind this song. Contacted all the students from IITG that were claiming to be Rohan's friend in different blogs/you tube, they all are saying they have no idea who is Rohan Rathore. It was just a cheap trick to play with people's emotions and to get money from downloads of this song. The song in reality is sung by Gajender Verma a music composer and singer based in Mumbai, I contacted this guy, he sent me the original midi composition file as proof. He is now claiming legal copyrights to this song. The lyrics and written by Aseem Ahmed Abbasee (an RJ and lyricist from Indore, http://www.facebook.com/IrfanCDcentre).
These students should be reported to Dean of IITG for this kind of scamming!

GUYS TRUST ME, I AM A GRADUATE FROM IIT GUWAHATI - all dis story abt d guy Rohan Rathore and his GF is a complete fiction and bullshit..can u imagine a cancer patient singing such a nice song, mixed wid such rythm nd music nd all just before 15 days of his death.....ITS a gimmick to make d song famous and i must say he is indeed getting dat......this song is sung and recorded by Gajendra Singh - He lives in Mumbai, is a sound engineer working at SAE.But nevertheless the song is awesome and i m not taking credit away from d singer or composer.....i simply love d song...but plz stop misleading ppl..

sound equally appealing. To math the original octave, place a capo on the
12th fret and follow the same tabs.
